United Bong Ships Building and School Material to Liberia... United Bong recently shipped 42 boxes of Notebooks and 36 boxes of floor tiles to Liberia for Bong County students and the education resource center project respectively. The items, solicited during the administration of Mr. Dennis Garsinni, had been in storage in Minnesota for several years with fees paid by Mr. Garsinni. Through the instrumentality of Mr. Garsinni in identifying a reasonable shipper, it became necessary to ship the items to Liberia.
To ensure that the items, especially the notebooks reach the intended targets, the National Administration has identified three respected individuals in the Bong County School System to oversee the distributions. They are, Mr. Joseph Kwenah, Chief District Educational Officer - Panta/Kpaii, Mr. Francis Nyekpeh - Professor and Head of Agricultural Studies - Cuttington College, and Mr. Klemeni Gbelemai - Director of an NGO in Gbarnga, Bong County. These individuals will submit detailed report to United Bong about the status of the distribution mechanisms. They shall also take custody of the tiles until such times they are needed for the project.
The National Administration would like to thank Mr. Garsinni and his family for underwriting the costs of the storage for these items.

WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND A SUCCESSFUL CONVENTION! Words are not enough to describe the hospitality we enjoyed during our Memorial Day Weekend Convention in Atlanta Georgia. The Georgia Chapter magnificently displayed southern styled hospitality only reserved for royalty.
On behalf of the officers and members of United Bong, Inc., I take this time very respectfully to thank the officers and members of the Georgia Chapter, especially Mr. Raymond Sumo, President, Mr. James Wleh-Wilson, Vice President, Ms. Sharon Williams, Secretary General, Mrs. Yepleh Sumo, First Lady of the Georgia Chapter, Mr. Dennis Kotee, Transportation Committee, Ms. Sangai, Mr. Charles Tonkollie, Mr. Moses Stryker, and all those from the Chapter that made everything possible. I also thank our musical guest Mr. Bosco Banks for the live entertainment. I want all of them to know we had a great time and truly appreciated their generosities.
I also like to thank all the Chapter leaders and members, observers, and friends who traveled from far and near to attend Convention 2008. Heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs. David Tokpah for being crowned QUEEN. Your participation and contributions truly provided hope for United Bong, hence believing that there are better days ahead.
As the euphoria of the convention wears away, I appeal to you to remember those things we promised to do such as: 1. Contributions to the Land Reform Funds 2. Contributions to the Education Resource Center 3. Forwarding of suggestions to the Chairman of the Land Reform Committee via garsiniifamily@aol.com, or siniiisbongman@aol.com 4. Solicitations of materials/equipment for possible shipment to Liberia in July 2008
Pretty soon we shall revamp the Education Resource Center Project Committee that will revisit the genesis of our efforts so as to avoid another false start. In addition, our convention resolution shall be displayed shortly once a final copy is forwarded by the Convention Resolution Committee.
Again, thank you very much for going to Georgia and supporting the efforts of United Bong, Inc.
In our quests to rebuild our County and the lives of our people, I remain...
Your humble servant,
Joe Flomo Matthew National President UBCAA, Inc.

United Bong County Association in the Americas was founded with two goals in mind. Firstly, to unite citizens and residents of Bong County, and provide moral and material supports to members of the Bong Community in the US and the people of Bong County in Liberia during the country’s raging civil war. Secondly, it provides a forum where its members can discuss matters pertinent to Bong County and Liberia.
However, as Liberia emerges from violent past, and embraces peace, Bong County, like the rest of Liberia is now focusing on the task of national reconstruction. It is in this vein that the United Bong County Association in the Americas now shifts its focus to rebuilding of Bong County, particularly in the areas of education and health.
The Association recognizes that education and health are important in ensuring lasting peace and sustainable national development. United Bong also recognizes the enormity of the tasks, but is convinced that support from its members, friends of Bong County as the general public it can forge ahead, and become a viable partner in the nation building process.
This site provides information on the activities of United Bong County Association in the Americas and its various projects. It also provides a unique opportunity to either become a member of the United Bong or its partner in progress.

National President Takes National Tour While National Vice President Takes International Tour. The National President Mr. Joe Flomo Matthew has embarked on a nation wide tour to meet one-on-one with Bong County Citizens across the United States. The visits are intended to give the President opportunities to discuss ways to make United Bong stronger. They also afford the President opportunities to discuss development issues in Bong County, and ways United Bong can be a partner. The President places importance to these visits, as he believes that in order to have a strong National Association, there have to be strong local chapters. The President hopes his visits can serve as added incentives for the already vibrant local chapters to be even great.
The President has already visited with the Rhodes Island, Georgia, and North Carolina Chapters. He is scheduled to visit with the Iowa and New Jersey Chapters in March 2008. Arrangements are under way to enable him visit with the Maryland, Minnesota, and California Chapters in early Spring 2008.
In the meantime, the National Vice President Ms. Ethel Livingstone is currently on an international tour with a visit to Liberia. While in Liberia, the National Vice President will seek the interest of United Bong by meeting with the former contractor of the Education Resource Center in Gbarnga to arrange for the turn over of materials, financial and other reports on the status of the project. The National Vice President is to also meet with the Superintendent, the Bong County Legislative Caucus, and the Bong County Women Association. We wish our National Vice President a safe trip to the motherland. |
